Approach

Most of our typefaces are built around an idea, not just a brief. Lingo started with phonetic notation and became a transitional roman that kept the curiosity in its details. Protest Grotesk is named for the era when sans-serifs were still radical — when stripping away ornament read as offensive — and negotiates that geometric purity against the warmth running text actually needs. Every release earns its place the same way. We work slowly, publish a short catalogue, and care as much about the concept behind a typeface as its finish. As trained graphic designers, we make type we want to use in our own work — shaped, and usually improved, by real projects and real constraints.

Custom work

For commissions we work closely with agencies and clients to build type that fits one purpose exactly — branding, digital products, publications, or experiential work. Where a project needs more than one pair of hands, we bring in trusted specialists in production, spacing, and additional scripts, and keep the point of view singular from first sketch to delivered files.
